What made you realize it was time to sell and buy your next place?

We actually listed our old house and started the house search one week before we went into lockdown, but our decision to sell and start looking for a new place was only reconfirmed when we tried to work / school / workout / everything from home! We were lucky enough to be able to coordinate our buy / sell at the same time and also rent back our old house for a couple months while we made renovations on the new place.

Did you need to do anything to get your home ready for sale?

We did some paint touch ups and cleared out clutter. I think the hardest part was getting it ready for showings during the pandemic because we had to clean up our work / school messes and then kill time walking around the neighborhood because there was nothing open for us to go do!

How did you know your new home was "the one"?

I was in the habit of running every morning and my path was the streets in our neighborhood where I most wanted to live. I probably saw the for sale sign just hours after it was put out and before the house was even on the market. The combination of the location+ Meg helping paint the vision of the changes we could make to truly make it our own meant we knew it was the one right after our first walk through.

What drew you to the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago?

It's close to our son's school, on a beautiful neighborhood street. But also really close to restaurants, shops, breweries and Wrigley field. So it feels like a great balance of a quaint neighborhood vibe with all the amenities of the city.

Do you have a favorite neighborhood spot?

We have a few! We love Begyle Brewery & Long Room for drinks. Bien MiSabe, Glenn's Diner and Spoken Cafe for eats. Brayden loves that we are really close to Diner Grill for their milkshakes.

What are you most excited about in your new home?

We are excited to decorate our back deck this summer and to put a garden and trampoline in the backyard. We love hosting and hope we can have a few fun summer get togethers soon!

Any advice for anyone buying + selling at the same time?
