Wicker Park Buyer: Meet Margaret

Old Town Chicago Condo

What led you to buy a home in Wicker Park?

I loved the overall vibe of the area. There are wide, tree-lined, quiet streets with neighborhood bars and restaurants throughout. And the livelier Division and Chicago corridors are also nearby—an easy walk.

How did you decide this home was “the one”?

I had narrowed my search to a duplex down and know the general neighborhood I liked. My unit was a pocket listing, so the pictures available were very dated. Meg was optimistic though, and I was thinking it’d be just another showing, but I immediately liked the place! I wanted a place I didn’t have to do much work on and that I could grow into. This met my criteria and I quickly made an offer.

What are you most excited about in your new home?

I love my kitchen. I have a large island, and an open kitchen. I love to cook and have people over for drinks. So for me, the kitchen was the most important. I also wanted a big living space for watching sports and updated design that would be low maintenance. I’ve found that all with this place.

Do you have a new favorite neighborhood spot?

Colectivo Coffee. I’m addicted to their Windy Ci-tea. I love walking over with the dog and picking up a tea on a Saturday morning.

What was the best part about working with Meg?

Meg helped me narrow down what I was looking for quickly. When I first started, I had no idea what I wanted - but after a few showings and feedback on listings, she helped me determine I wanted a duplex down. This was helpful because in short order we were able to narrow the search and find the right unit for me.

Favorite memory in your new home?

I love to have my girl friends over for Christmas, with my place decorated for the season.
